Na het grote succes van de eerdere NVTS webinars hebben we opnieuw een interessante spreker gevonden voor ons tweede webinar van 2023: Dr. Charkhandeh, tandarts-slaapgeneeskundige. Het webinar met als thema 'Upcoming Trends in Precision Dental Sleep Medicine' vindt plaats op 11 oktober 2023 en is gratis toegankelijk voor eenieder.
Sleep medicine is continuously evolving and over the past few years the field has learned a lot about the limitations of some of the treatments and also current measurement indices for disease burden, such as AHI. Also, medicine is shifting the focus to personalized approach to care. This webinar is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of emerging trends that are shaping the landscape of precision-based approaches in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Participants will gain insights into frequency-based and risk-based metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of OSA treatments, empowering them with valuable tools to make informed clinical decisions. It will also explore the critical role of hypoxic burden in OSA and its direct impact on patient outcomes.
A review of a risk-based index will help participants with the ability to accurately assess the efficacy of precision oral appliance therapy (OAT), improving their skillset in tailoring treatments to individual patient needs.They will also learn insights into how precision dental sleep medicine can be seamlessly integrated into daily practice, enhancing patient outcomes and overall care quality.
Korte biografie
As a well-known and passionate educator, researcher and innovator in dental sleep medicine, Dr. Charkhandeh has lectured at numerous national sleep meetings across the world, including in Canada, USA, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Puerto Rico , Brazil and has trained over a thousand dentists in this field over the last decade. He is the recipient of the “2012 & 2015 Clinical Research Award” and “2015 Clinical Excellence Award” from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is the founder and director of Alberta Dental Sleep Medicine Study Club, the Clinical Director at The Snore Centre in Canada and has served on multiple different advisory boards related to sleep medicine. Dr. Charkhandeh serves as the Global Scientific Committee Chair for ProSomnus® Sleep Technologies.
